Closets
Of all of the rooms in the house, the closet probably gets the least recognition. They are also one of the most functional rooms, even though you don't really spend any time in them at all. Closets come in all different shapes and sizes and they also serve various purposes throughout the house. When most people think of a closet, they think of a place where you hang your clothes or store your shoes until the next time you wear them. Because of people's desire to collect things that they really don't need, however, closets have evolved into something much more than this.
I don't know about you, but I have closets all over my house. Some of them do store clothing but for the most part they are used to store items that don't have any place else to go. I have closets in my kitchen where I store my food and closets under the stairs where I store the vacuum and things that don't belong out in the house when company shows up unexpected. Out in my garage, I have closets that line the walls on three sides. These are full of random items as well, including everything from tools to table cloths.
Keeping your closets organized is almost a full-time job. Closet organizational skills are something that are developed over time, however, and can be quite overwhelming to somebody that is new at the task. Just a simple walk through a local hardware store will show you that there are so many different types of closet organizers to choose from, and they do this for a good reason. People love to be organized but they don't want to take the time to do so. By using these closet organizers, they help to keep the things that need to be in reach within reach and to hide the things that don't.
So the next time you think you have your house clean, take a look inside the closets and see what you can do to organize them as well. They serve probably the most useful purpose of any room in the house. Keep them clutter free and they'll be an enjoyable place to look.
